computer memory

Computer memory is physical device which help us to store data. computer memory capable of storing data(bit) temporarily or permanently. For example, Random Access Memory (RAM)(RAM). It is a volatile memory can help stores information. Memory is used by the computer operating system software. When computer turn off data will be lose from RAM.
There are two types of memory
1) main memory/ Non Volatile Memory /internal or primary)
2) Auxiliary (external or secondary memory/ Volatile Memory

 1) Main memory/Volatile Memory:

Main memory memory can’t store the data permanently Main memory is called primary and non volatile memory. When computer is to process any program, instruction and associated data should be immediately available. Computer request internal memory not only storage program or data but storing result also. but storing result not permanently. Primary memory also known as RAM.

Random Access Memory (RAM):

Random access memory stand for RAM. if work random selection of memory locations. It performs both read and write operations. If computer is shut down then you will lose your data permanently. So, RAM is called volatile memory. RAM categorized into following types.
DRAM: dynamic random-access memory
SRAM: Static random-access memory
DRDRAM: Direct Rambus Dynamic Random Access Memory

2) Auxiliary :

Auxiliary memory also known as external or secondary memory and Non Volatile Memory. The external memory can be classified as magnetic or optical or combine memory so that it is called magneto-optical memory. Magnetic storage device is combination of magnetic and magnetism mechanisms. It is also called  Secondary memory is external and permanent memory because that is useful to store the external storage media such as floppy disk, magnetic disks, magnetic tapes and other. Secondary memory are available following types of components.

Read Only Memory (ROM) :

ROM is permanent memory. it location that offer huge types of standards to save data. But it work with read only operation. No data lose happen whenever shut down the computer .
ROM memory has several models which are following.
1.PROM: Programmable Read Only Memory (PROM)
2.EPROM : Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory
3.EEPROM: Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory.

Cache Memory:

Cache is very fast and small memory which is placed between the CPU and the main memory. cash memory take less access time then Main memory. It performance will decrease through less access time. It is used to increase the average memory access times. Main memory can store a lot of data but the cache memory kept few data. cache memory can be read data faster than main memory. Cache memory is provide quick access tools to the users.

Flash memory:

Flash memory often used to hold control code as basic input-output system (BIOS). Flash drives are used for the same purposes which floppy disks or CD's. The flash memory can be written to block size. It making easy to update. This memory is used in cellular phone, camera and other devices. the example of flash memory is Pendriv.

hard drive:

hard drive is also called secondary memory. we can store huge amount of data to use in future. it is called main part of computer to store huge amount of data.
